# Bridging with Shadows

Bridging is a powerful feature of Whale Shadows, allowing your NFT to move between supported blockchains while maintaining secure, verifiable ownership.

When you bridge your OG Whale (or any Shadow-enabled NFT), the Shadow NFT becomes the primary determinant of ownership on the destination chain. This means whoever controls the Shadow can retrieve the mainnet asset, so it's critical to use addresses you fully control and trust.

## How Bridging Works

* Approve the Beacon contract to move your OG Whale on Ethereum.
* Use the Beacon contract to initiate a bridge, specifying the destination chain and beneficiary address.
* Once bridged, the Shadow NFT on the destination chain represents ownership. The original NFT is locked or escrowed on Ethereum until the process is reversed.

> **Warning:** The beneficiary address you provide during bridging will control the mainnet asset. Double-check this address—assets sent to the wrong address cannot be recovered.
